[069] Draycott Residence - London - 2017
refurbishment, completed
The brief called for new layout and full refurbishment of this three storey apartment with-in a late 19th century apartment building. Challenges included bringing the natural light into central areas of the apartment in order for the spaces to become ‘lighter’ in feel, within long and narrow footprint governed by the shape of the building. This was resolved with the introduction of series of the ‘glass walls’ that allow the light from the top floor skylight and middle floor south façade to penetrate into the ‘guts’ of the flat two storeys below, whilst complying with strict building regulations requirements. Minimal skirting seamlessly transfers from walls to build-in joinery in order to simplify the uneven geometries of spaces. Light palette of colors are working together with newly introduced natural light to create a feeling of freshness and openness.
